Our Wedding Stationery
As a designer I knew that I would never be fully happy with template wedding stationery and wanted to create something that truly reflected us. I did spend a lot of time on Pinterest (to have a look at my Pinterest board click here) to decide on the elements I liked of different designs before pulling them together for a design to fit my wedding inspiration.
Wedding Stationery – Save the date cards.
Looking through Pinterest we both liked the “Pencil us in” idea and loved the natural tone of the brown card. At this point we had only committed ourselves to a natural, romantic feel and colour schemes were something to be considered in the future.
I took bits from a few other ideas I liked and created a double-sided postcard that included space for us to write a personal message to the recipient.
We were delighted with the final result and felt that they tied in beautifully with the overall theme and were unique to us.
Wedding invitations are traditionally sent out 3 months before the big day, so with four months to go I sat down and set about coming up with ideas, again using Pinterest as a starting point.
By this point, we had the bridesmaids’ dresses and therefore knew the colours. Going for muted tones of ivory, rose gold and mink, I’m now wondering how to tie in the Save the Date card design beyond using the same fonts.
I love the pocket envelope designs like this one I found on Pinterest, however, considering the other stationery I need to make, such as the Order of Service, thought that the craft card would be wrong going forward.
After a quick search for pocket envelopes on ebay, we chose some beautiful ivory square envelopes. Well, I say beautiful – I shall find out in a couple of days when they arrive!
In the meantime I can work on the wording and layout for the inside.
This is my first draft:
Time to call it a day. I’ll finish both the design and write part 2 when the envelopes arrive!
